It is no small task, but a titanic task to protect the plots (old and new) from fire and livestock raving. Each of us has in mind the damage that forest fires cause all over the world. Even with the most sophisticated means of fight (motor pumps, canadairs…), it is very difficult to slow down or even stop this scourge.
What EcoFormation undertakes each year to protect plantations and residual forests is the stripping (cleaning down to the ground) of protective strips around the plots. These firebreaks are 8 to 10 metres wide. By hand, workers from the neighbouring villages clean these protection zones tirelessly from May to November.
Training sessions are regularly organized with straws on the ground and human chains are used to contain the fire.
